Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: 2.5
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: webhostinghub
Akeeba Backup version: 3.4.2

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

The "Akeeba Backup Professional – Live Update" page shows that an update is required. I have already manually updated to Akeeba 3.4.2 but the update screen never shows as green. I have cleared the cache on Joomla as well as on my Browswer.

I'm sure this is a simple fix. Let me know your suggestions.

Thanks,
Erik

Update:
I uninstalled Akeeba Backup components and plug-ins and reinstalled. Seems to be fixed. I had to retype my component parameters.

If there is a short cut, feel free to let me know. But it seemed to solve the problem on my end.

Thanks,
Erik

You normally have to give it up to 24 hours after manually updating before the update cache is busted and Live Update sees the new release. alternatively, click on the Fresh update information button in the Live Update page. Uninstalling is a bad idea, as you lose all settings and existing backups.

Surprise! the issue is back (it was gone for a day). I'm currently using Akeeba 3.4.2 and I have clicked on the "Refresh Update Information".

Here's what I see:
Installed version 3.4.2
Latest version
Latest release date
Direct download URL

the empty fields are...empty.

Do I just wait 24 hours or is there anything that I should do?

Thanks,
Erik

I'd say yes, wait for 24 hours. It should reset the update information cache automatically after that.

I have waited for almost 48 hours and my akeeba backup still indicates that there is an update to 3.4.2 and does not update when I clear the cache, or press refresh.

Removing Akeeba through the component uninstall method, and reinstalling - I still have the same issue. Is there a way to really uninstall the program so that I can get a fresh install?

Thanks,
Erik

Erik,

are all those fields still blank? Please note that what you attached in the first post shows the absence of available updates, not an update to version 3.4.2. It tells you that you have 3.4.2 installed and it can't load any update information.

One more thought. Go to Components, Akeeba Backup and click on Component Parameters. Click on Live Update. Set "Update only to developer releases" to No. Click on Save & Close. Now click on the UPDATE FOUND button. Click on "Refresh update information". It should now tell you that you have the latest version.

Prior to your last response, I uninstalled the Akeeba component and then set the Live Update parameters to:
Update only to developer releases: No
Minimum release stability for update notifications: Alpha

That seems to work (I have attached my screen shot)

When I had problems, I had it set to
Update only to developer releases: Yes
Minimum release stability for update notifications: Stable
-Although these are the settings I wanted, it seems to created problems.

OK, that makes sense. Since the 3.4.0 release there are no dev releases available in the update channel, hence the empty result set :)
