Description of my issue:

I just bought and updated to Akeeba Backup Pro 3.4 and I was going to setup upload of the backups to Dropbox but when I click on "Authentication step 1" I get this 500 error message:

OAuthError in API v1+. Request mis-signed: Invalid signature. Expected signature base string: GET&https%3A%2F%2Fapi.dropbox.com%2F1%2Foauth%2Frequest_token&oauth_consumer_key%3Djfx8zqptl2aw54d%26oauth_nonce%3D31e6da7a1ff758bab46cf44ec8990677%26oauth_signature_method%3DHMAC-SHA1%26oauth_timestamp%3D1331037781%26oauth_version%3D1.0 (Status Code: 401)

What is wrong?

I believe that you don't have the PHP "hash" extension loaded, or that it doesn't support the HMAC-SHA1 signature method. Any way to ask your host for the exact configuration of that server?

I am the host, I have a VPS server which runs Debian 6 with a LAMP server.

How do I enable hash?

I haven't used Debian, but the principle is that you have to edit your php.ini file, find the line which references ext_hash.so and uncomment it. Sorry if I sound a bit vague, server setup is a little hard to provide support for :(
