Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: (2.5.1)
PHP version: (5.3.9)
MySQL version: (5.0.92)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.3.13)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
I had a notice in my admin panel that an update of akeebapro is available. I tried to install via admin panel and got the attached error messages. After updating Akeeba Pro still shows version number 3.3.13 and I get the update notice again.

It is possible the update stream is showing the file available, but whenever you attempt to download it, the cache of that stream isn't giving you the file.

You can wait for a bit (24 hours) and try again or you can manually download the file and update the system.

Moreover, you'll need to enter your Download ID in the component as per our instructions.

Hi, and thank you for responding so fast.
There is actually a file downloaded in my tmp directory but the file extension is com_akeeba-3.4.0-pro.zip.html?dlid=......
I do not know whether it should not only be com_akeeba-3.4.0-pro.zip?dlid=...... for Joomla to be able to install it?
I tried for once installing it via Joomla control panel since this is a new feature but I have still the possibility to install it via the Akeeba Backup Component Control Panel.
I noticed another issue. Normally the Akeeba Backup Control Panel tells me immediately if there is an update available. But not this time. Only when I refresh the update information I am told that there is a new version available.

In order to use Joomla! 2.5.1's extension updater to update to Akeeba Backup 3.4.0 you must:
1. Have Akeeba Backup 3.3.13 installed
2. Enter your Download ID per our instructions
3. Go to Akeeba Backup's control panel page
4. Go to Extensions, Manage Extensions, Update and click on Purge, then on Reload, then select Akeeba Backup, then click on Update.

Alternatively, you can go to Components, Akeeba Backup, click on Update Found, Update Now.

Guess which one is faster and more reliable? ;)

My Download ID is entered in the component parameters.

I tried to install it via Joomla Control Panel with the new Extension Update button. I just thought I let you know that it did not work this way.
But I guess I know now what I have to do in future. ;)

Yes, you have entered the Download ID, but there are a gazillion other mandatory steps I listed. If they weren't mandatory I guess I wouldn't mention them at all in a post I'm writing just a little past midnight, right? :)

Sorry for bothering you but I did not expect an immediate answer. I managed to install the new version via Akeeba Backup Control Panel.
Some of my postings were written before I saw your postings.
You can close this ticket. And thank you very much again for your fast reactions.
