Description of my issue:

Hi Nocholas,

after a few tests on offline sites, i tried Akeeba Backup on my online site. The same problem with

No Inpui File Specified

appearing if i click on "Administer Backups" in Akeeba Backup arises again.

Further, when I tried to download my first backup, i couldn´t find the "backup" folder under "com_akeeba" or any of the sub directories of it. The path in my configuration is correct though.

Could you help me out of this ?

... nearly every second click in the backend (no matter which button or link) leads to this error.

Example:

http://www.SOMEPAGE.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_akeeba&view=log

produces the error mentioned above.

Hi Netzy,

As I wrote in my other reply, this is a server issue, not directly related with Akeeba Backup. It is an error thrown by the Apache's CGI/FastCGI proxy when it can not find the PHP executable. IIRC, this happens when the server is over capacity, or misconfigured. Please contact your host. I can't help you with server configuration issues.

Hi Nicholas,

thanks for your reply. I am going to contact host, telling him what you told me.

What about, the second mentioned problem, i. e. the missing "backup" folder in "com_akeeba". Is there a connection between this problems?

It's hard to know for sure, but I can make an educated guess. A timeout occurred while installing Akeeba Backup, which means that it is now only half-installed. The timeout may have manifested itself as a blank page, a 500 Internal Server Error or even a "No input file specified" (it can happen!). If the latter is true, then all "No input file specified" errors are most probably PHP errors arising from timeout errors, too low of a PHP memory limit or, ultimately, because Akeeba Backup wasn't installed correctly. But this is all pure speculation on my part. It's best to contact your host for a definitive answer.

I have also checked the requirements for Akeeba backup and checked my settings for the server (see enclosed). Could you see any problem?

(I know, you are busy, but maybe the settings that I have under control lead to this No File Specified error)

user58348
Also the php-settings seem to be compatible with Akeeba Backup ...

user58348
Aaaaah, wrong screenshot! Could you delete it please (screenshot003.png)?

user58348
Hi Nicholas,

thank you for turning the ticket to private!

The second "problem" has already been solved. I have searched the components/com_akeeba folder for the backup, not the administrator/components/com_akeeba folder ... Shame on me!

During installation, no error has occured. And I have already contacted my hoster by email, however, it will last up to one day before I receive a response ...

Please allow me to enclose a further screenshot with all settings (not many) of my server I have under control. Do you think one of these settings may cause the misconfiguration. In most cases I don´t even know what they mean ...

Thank you for your support!

Hmmmm, your ticket system does not allow me to upload the screenshot. Instead I receive the message:

Hi Netzy,

Can you upload the screenshot to your server and paste me a link? Your image seems to be too big for the ticket system or it's a file type it doesn't like (yes, it's very picky, you can't believe all the crazy stuff people have tried to post here over the years, ranging from a 2Gb backup archive to the hacking script which was used against a user's site).

Have you downloaded the file? I don´t want to leave it there too long ...

Just downloaded it. Perhaps you can change the PHP-Modus to something else. But I'd say it's best to actually wait for your host's reply.

OK, thank you so far. I´ll come back to this matter as soon as I have received their statement ...

Just to give you a first feedback:

If the server is set to CGI instead of FastCGI+APC, it seems to work under PHP5.3.

However, I will come back to this matter as soon as my tests are completed, so that my posting will help others in the same situation ...

That actually makes sense. I was reading about the problems caused with FastCGI + APC + use of relative paths. Even though, as far as I can see, I don't use relative paths anywhere, it's possible that some other plugin does, causing this problem.

OK, here is the result of my tests for everybody who is facing the same same problem:

If you are running a STRATO Managed Server, you have the following options:

PHP-Settings:

- PHP-Version: 5.3

Further Settings:

- FastCGI + APC
- FastCGI + eAccelerator
- FastCGI
- CGI + eAccelerator
- CGI

As a result of my tests, the server does no longer show the "No input file specified" message in the backend of Joomla, if "CGI" or "CGI + eAccelerator" is chosen. FastCGI doesn´t work at all ...

Greetings

Netzy

PS: Even though I had to find it out for myself, your hints have been very helpful, Nicholas! Thanks for your great support!

user58348
Oh, this is a private ticket due to the uploaded screenshot :-). Be that as it may, feel free to use this information, if another user faces a similar problem, Nicholas.
