Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Lots of it
Joomla! version: (1.5.25)
PHP version: (5.3.6 )
MySQL version: (Server version: 5.1.56-log MySQL client version: 4.1.22)
Host: (abiviahost.ca)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.3.11)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: Backups end in error. Akeeba Backup Pro won't update. This is happening part way through backing up files process. I've been following the instructions regarding turning off plugins to no avail. Is there a list of problematic plugins somewhere? I do turn them off and then back on one at a time. I haven't done every plugin, only the non Joomla! ones.

Akeeba Backup has always worked on this site until this version.

Hi Joe,

According to the log file, the backup didn't even start. Right now I am not sure if you have a failed upgrade or there's a third party plugin causing this issue. So, first things first.

When you were trying to upgrade Akeeba Backup, did you get any error messages at all? Can you try disabling the "System - System Restore Points" plugin and retry installing Akeeba Backup Professional 3.3.12? If you get any errors, please let me know. Otherwise, try logging out of your site, clear your browser's cache (mandatory), close and relaunch your browser and log back into your site, then try taking a new backup. This chore is required to ensure that your browser does not try to use any stale Javascript file.

Hi Nic,

I disabled the "System - System Restore Points" plugin and re-installed Akeeba Backup Professional 3.3.12.

It installed, I got a successful backup.

I can hardly believe how simple the solution was. Sorry I didn't think to disable the "System - System Restore Points" plugin first before posting for help.

I'll look for something to update and try the "System - System Restore Points" and let you know how it goes.

Thanks for great help.

Well, I had seen this bug a few times, so I figured out what it was :) FYI, 3.3.13 fixes some issues regarding SRPs causing 500 errors or not working at all (they seem to work, but do nothing).

I logged out of Joomla!, logged in again, cleared the cache and tried to update Admin Tools.

Got the following error:

Backup Failed

The backup operation has been halted because an error was detected.
The last error message was:

AJAX Loading Error
HTTP Status: 500 (Internal Server Error)
Internal status: error
XHR ReadyState: 4
Raw server response:

So I guess I've got to search for some plug in that's preventing system restore to work.

It's related to my reply above. You need to disable the SRP plugin, install Akeeba Backup 3.3.13 (which fixes those bugs in the System Restore Points) and retry updating Admin Tools.

OK, the new 3.3.13 version fixed it all.

Thanks again Nic.
