After automatic update plugin causes error 500 fro entire site. I deleted the plugin and site works now. It's very disappointing. What I can to do?

First, update your PHP version. PHP 7.3 has been End of Life since 6 December 2021. PHP 7.4 is End of Life since 28 November 2022. PHP 8.0 will become End of Life on 26 November 2023. You should upgrade to PHP 8.1.

Regarding the problem, it is very likely that the automatic update failed. Unfortunately, automatic updates and updates through WordPress' Plugins or Updates pages may fail because third party plugins may crash, or corrupt the update information, during a completely unrelated plugin's upgrade. We were told that recent versions of WordFence exhibited this behaviour. We recommend that you install the new version manually, and that in the future you do not use WordPress' automatic updates. Instead, go to Akeeba Backup itself and click on the Update Found button. This uses our own updater code.
