I took the backup of the wordpress site. I created a new database (user & database).

When I try to restore the site, the database gets restored to another database user (on the same cpanel) even though I enter the new database details. It has happened twice.

Hello,

can you please double check the database host? Connection to the database is rather straightforward: we use PHP native functions with the data you supplied, there isn't any special handling.
