Hi,

Hope you are doing great!

I've been enjoying akeeba backup so far, but for some reason, I can't use it with Pcloud webdav: https://i.imgur.com/et6ouZH.png

I see this information on the logs and that is quite interesting because it was able to actually create the folder on my Pcloud: https://i.imgur.com/YNkgtq1.png

However, it couldn't not upload the backup file. At first, I tried that it was a issue with my host, so I did try using another host and even a VPS with all php 7.4 extensions (apt install php-fpm7.4-*) but I still couldn't make Akeeba upload to Pcloud.

Am I doing something wrong? Or Pcloud isn't supported at all?

The webdav server is this one: webdav.pcloud.com.

(PS: Let me know if you need the pass to Pcloud to test at your side).

Thanks!

We have removed our pCloud integration a while ago because there were problems on pCloud's side: the initial authentication process randomly failed for half of the accounts without any rhyme or reason, their OAuth2 server returned errors randomly, the connection was dropped while uploading randomly etc. It looks like pCloud doesn't care much about any implementation other than their desktop client.

It looks like they extend their lack of care for any implementation to WebDAV as well :( You got the same problem we were getting with their API: connection reset by peer. It means that their server closed the connection before completing the HTTP request.

So it looks like pCloud doesn't support anything at all beyond its own desktop client which is the exact opposite of what they advertise. I know, I had bought a pCloud subscription myself.

They also most definitely do scan your private, encrypted files which is the exact opposite of their other major selling point. Last year I was uploading the contents of backup DVD-ROMs I had from the time I was a university student 20 odd years ago to my private, encrypted pCloud directory. Imagine my surprise receiving an email telling me that my account is suspended because I uploaded content which violates their Terms of Service. As it happens, 20 years ago my chemistry professor had given me and my lab partner an assignment on the science and use of explosives. Among various things we covered was the use of improvised explosives. What better reference for that than The Anarchist's Cookbook? Well, pCloud detected the upload and banned me for it. I don't know. I would not expect my private, supposedly end-to-end encrypted content to be scanned. If I am the only one knowing the password how did they scan my files?

So, yeah, I decided to give up pCloud entirely. It doesn't really work and it's not anywhere near as private as it says. At least Dropbox and OneDrive work as advertised.

Hey,

Sorry for the delay and thanks for the heads up!

I wasn't aware that Pcloud was that bad hehe. I wasn't trusting them with my files ( I was encrypting them locally before uploading), but since they had webdav, I thought they could be a great match for external akeeba backups.

Well, in this case, I did setup a FTP server on a VPS that wasn't being used and I think I will keep my backups there :)

If something doesn't work at least I can fix (different from Pcloud hehe).

Thanks again man!
