Hello,

I'm managing a new WP site and just installed Akeeba. I took a backup and am trying to restore it in a test area to be sure backup works and so I don't have to make changes on the live site.

When I get to the install step, I get this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')', expecting :: (T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM) in /home/anote/public_html/installation/framework/session/session.php on line 104

I looked at that file, but nothing was obvious to me. Can you give me some direction please?

Thank you for your help,
Anne

This is caused by a problem in the 2.3.3 version. There are two ways to fix it:

The easy way: Upgrade to 2.4.0 and take a new backup. It will restore as expected.

The hard way: If necessary, the restore program can be manually fixed in order to restore your existing backup. One of our programmers would need to log into your site and do the repair.

Ah, there is a third option! I tried upgrading the PHP level in the testing site to 5.6 and it restored! (I thought I needed to keep everything the same ). So I'm all set now -- and thanks for your quick response!
