Good morning,
I want to automatically update 1.7.1 to 2.0.2 and got following error:

There was an error communicating with the update package extraction script restore.php. This usually indicates a permissions issue making this file unreadable to the web server or a server configuration (e.g. .htaccess file directives) issue blocking access to this file.
Please consult with your host for a solution.

There are more websites running on that web host server and they don't have a problem.

What is the best I can do?

Thanks!
Damiaan van Vliet.

Hello,

as reported on the message, the restore.php file is not accessible.
I suspect there's a permission issue on such file, you should check the permissions and the ownership of such file.
Alternatively, you can manually install the update on your site.

Thanks Davide. I have looked the file permissions and they are 644 on that file. So I think good.
But thanks for the manually updating link, will try that but is somewhat more work.

Please check the ownership, too.
If the file is owned by a different server user than your webserver, you could end up with issues (as you are just experiencing)
