We've inherited a client's Wordpress website and I installed Akeeba Backup Wordpress so we could make a complete site backup in order to set up a development site to start testing/making changes for their site.

I installed Akeeba Backup WP 1.9.1 first, and was able to activate it, but when I clicked on the Akeeba icon in the admin panel, it wouldn't load the Akeeba dashboard, but after a while it gave me a 404 page on the frontend of the site.

I deleted the plugin folder through FTP and tried installing version 1.9.0, thinking maybe it had to be installed first before 1.9.1. Same thing happens when I try to access the newly installed/activated plugin from the admin panel.

They didn't have any other backup plugins installed on their site, only a handful of other ones: WP Optimize, Taxonomy Images, Yoast SEO, and some lesser known ones like Multiple Post Thumbnails, Privateer Document Types, and one that their previous web developer custom built.

I've done a brand new install of Akeeba Backup WP 1.9.0 on another site that we are managing and had no problems whatsoever. I would greatly appreciate if you could help point me in the right direction of how to get this working.

Thanks,
Ryan

Hello Grigg,

this happens when your database tables are not correctly created.
We added some code to work around this issue, can you please install the latest dev release and try again?

Yes, I have done that. I've attached what I see in Firefox, Safari and Chrome.

It says "Released on: Thursday, 30 June 2016 10:05

No files were found"

There's also a button that says more information, but there's nothing inside the slider window that opens.

Thansk,
Ryan

Ok, thank you. I was able to download the developer release and installed it with no problems. I was able to make local and remote backups of the site with it.

Last question: Going forward, would I update to 1.9.1, or how would I handle that?

Thanks for your help.

Ryan,

No, do not "update" to 1.9.1. That is a quirk of the developer's release versions, they always want you to upgrade to the older stable version. This fix will be incorporated into the next stable release.
