HELP. My host installed the Akeeba Backup for WordPress on our website and then he Activated the plugin. However, in your documentation, it says "You will now see a new section on the sidebar, called Akeeba Backup." . It never shows up on the left side. I tried different browsers, computers in different cities, cleared cache, etc. NOTHING. I can not get it to show up on the left so I can configure it or run a necessary backup.

Please help ASAP.

You took out the most common problem when you cleared the cache.

Does Akeeba Backup show up in your list of plugins? Under "Akeeba Backup" does it say "Activate" or "Deactivate?"

Yes, it shows up in the list of plugins. It says "Deactivate" (in other words, we activated it).

Is this a WordPress multisite installation? If it is then do note that only the Network Administrator will see the plugin in the network administration page. The individual multisites don't see the plugin. I suspect that since your host had to install the plugin this must be the case.

So, explain to me. If this is a multisite host. Then when he does an AkeebaBackup will I get all the websites or just our own website in the backup?

If it's a multisite setup using Akeeba Backup will get all of the websites. This is how WordPress works. The sites in a multisite setup are not separated. They all share a common location on the disk, they have common database data and then there are specialised tables per site for the per-site posts, pages and metadata.

There is a simple way to figure out if this is the case. Can you install plugins? I mean, when you click the Plugins menu on your site do you have an Add New button? Also, do you have FTP access to your site which allows you to upload and manage files? If the answer to either question is "No" then you have a multisite setup which in fact is not a site, it's a hosted blog exactly like what WordPress.com offers.
