I successfully installed the WP backup plugin and set it up for dropbox and ran my first backup and it all went smoothly. However, I started a backup during the night and when I woke up it had only completed 25%, had been 3 hours since server response but there was no error or warning. It says to stay on page until completed. I don't see a way to stop or cancel the process.

For this current backup, I'm wondering how to abort and stop any processes possibly at the server for this backup.

What can I do to not have this happen in the future?

Kathy,

When you leave that backup in process screen, it should kill the process. When you go back into the plugin screen it will detect that the backup has been interrupted and do some tidying up.

I can't tell what went wrong from your description. At 25% it is not very far into the backup. Please download and post your backup log here and we'll see if we can figure out what went wrong. You will probably need to zip the log file to get under the file size limit.
