Joomla! version: 1.5.23
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: 5.1.56
Host: CompuGeeks
Admin Tools version: 2.1.2

Description of my issue:

I could not use the update feature and got the JFTP::write: Bad response error. I tried to reconfigure the ftp settings numerous times and when I tried to install through the Joomla installer I got: JFTP::store: Bad response

IIRC your version has a bug in Live Update which won't allow it to run properly. Please download the latest version (2.1.5) from https://www.AkeebaBackup.com/latest and install it using Joomla!'s Extensions, Install/Uninstall without uninstalling the 2.1.2 release. This will perform the update correctly and Live Update will work properly in the future.

The problem is that when I try to install using the Joomla installer I get:
"JFTP::store: Bad response
Warning! Failed to move file."

The hosting company recently had to restore the site from a backup to eliminate a hacker virus problem. That might be part of the problem.

There was a typo in my configuration.php file for the temp directory. I fixed it and now it works. There was in the log directory too but in the system info it still says unwritable for the log directory. Should I change that?

Thanks, Tim

I fixed that as well- it should be logs (plural) and not just log in the config file:

var $log_path = '/home/******/public_html/logs';
var $tmp_path = '/home/******/public_html/tmp';

I am glad you got it fixed! Using the FTP layer can be quite tricky at times.
