Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? No
Have I searched the forum before posting? No
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? No
Joomla! version: (unknown)
PHP version: (unknown)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (innohosting)
Admin Tools version: 2.12

Description of my issue:

I when trying to upload an extension or template from extension manager I get this error message:

Warning! Failed to move file.
JFolder::create: Could not create directory
Unable to create destination

I think it must be related to Admin Tools as it started after install of this

Also I am not able to login with the master password and I am sure I am using the right one - is there a way to reset

Thanks

Regarding the installation issue, it is most likely a permissions issue. You have to enable the FTP options in your site's Global Configuration to work around this limitation. I have compiled a thorough component installation troubleshooting guide. Despite the fact that it talks about Akeeba Backup, it applies to troubleshooting the installation of all extensions, including templates. It has step-by-step instructions for enabling the FTP options on your site.

Regarding the master password, you can change it using phpMyAdmin. Edit the first record of the table jos_admintools_storage. In the long text in there you will find a piece which reads something like
"masterpassword":"mypassword",
Change it so that it reads
"masterpassword":"",
and you're good to go :)

Hi nicholas

It will not let me set up the ftp layer, i am using the right settings and now I cant access the website at all.

There are exactly two reasons for not accepting the FTP information:

1. Using the wrong FTP connection information

2. Your server not supporting loopback FTP connections, i.e. your host does not allow your site to connect to itself by FTP

The former is very common. That's why there are step-by-step instructions. The most tricky part is the FTP directory setting. Please follow the part with FileZilla and copy & paste of the FTP path to the letter. Everyone gets that wrong otherwise (including yours truly, that's why I wrote down this guide)

The latter is very uncommon. You can ask your host about it.

Regarding not being able to login to your site, your other thread tells me it's a directory password protection that you need to remove. Unless you installed Admin Tools and used that feature, you were playing with your cPanel's directory password protection. In any case, removing the .htaccess from that directory will do the trick. But, please, let's keep this thread only to the installation issue, not the back-end access issue.

I have a feeling the installation issue may have been because I ran out of space on my hosting account - this may have caused the inability to upload and install extensions - actually it seems pretty obvious now im saying it in my head :) I have allocated more space to the account so hopefully when the site is back up, this should resolve it.

LoL! Space is the final frontier, even in the context of web sites :) Yeah, I think that now that you have more space things will work out just fine.

Sorry for accusing Admin Tools! By the way I was under constant attack before installing this and I've not been hacked since so I couldn't be happier with this - hopefully it will stay that way, I guess there are probabaly ways round this for a determined hacker but they will have to get on a flight before they can try again :)

No worries :) I understand that when you come here for help you are probably frustrated, under a terrible deadline and nothing works (i.e. "panic mode"). I am here to filter through the panic and figure out what's going on to help you :)
