Please check if the file administrator/components/com_admintools/version.php exists. Then, take a look at it. Does the last line read:
define('ADMINTOOLS_PRO','1');
If not, Live Update will download and install the Core version instead of the Professional one.

the file correctly states:
define('ADMINTOOLS_PRO','1');

I think that file in the 2.1.1 release was missing this line on some servers. I could not replicate it and I only heard about this issue twice. On other servers (mine and customers') where I tried the Live Update, it worked correctly :s

let me clarify --
right now i have 2.1.1 installed and that line exists.
if i try to live update, it reverts to core (with the new revision)

That's strange :s Please go to Components, Admin Tools and click on the "Update found" button. On the top of the page does it read "Admin Tools Core" or "Admin Tools Professional"? Moreover, can you copy and paste here the Direct Download URL shown right above the upgrade button? Thank you!

hmmm...
while running through the process again i tried the update and it worked.

i originally had core, then updated to pro -- installing on top of the existing installation. at one point i tried uninstalling core and installing pro fresh. maybe that resolved it.

regardless, the upgrade worked this go around. thanks.

Well, there is a possible scenario for this happening. If you tried to upgrade to 2.1.2 less than 24 hours since you upgraded Core to Professional, that could cause a problem. The reason is that the update information is cached. If the core update information was cached, it would upgrade 2.1.1 Pro to 2.1.2 Core. Other than that, the other possibility is that the upgrade from core to pro didn't replace the version.php file, causing Admin Tools to keep on fetching the wrong update information.

Well, I am glad it's working now :)
