Description of my issue:

Getting many emails with just the following in it, no IP or any other information: ATOOLS_LBL_WAF_AUTOIPBLOCKEMAIL_BODY

The language is English and the version is 2.1.1 . I have had a terrible time for three months with a hacker(s) who seem to be targeting my sites and my computer.

It looks like the language files were not installed correctly. Please try re-installing the component: download the package again from https://www.AkeebaBackup.com/latest and install it using Extensions, Install/Uninstall. Please do not uninstall your existing copy of Admin Tools.

I would also like to note that this issue is purely cosmetic. What happens is this: some visitors are attacking your site repeatedly, triggering the Web Application Firewall (WAF) feature of Admin Tools. As a result, Admin Tools "gets angry" and bans their IP addresses for a preset amount of time. When using the default settings, if a visitor tries to attack your site three times within five minutes he's blocked for a whole day - if I recall correctly. You get this email when Admin Tools does this to protect your site, so essentially it tells you that Admin Tools does work and, in fact, works hard to protect your site.

Unfortunately, I seem to have the same issue. J! 1.5.23, PHP 5.2.13, Admin Tools Pro 2.1.1, English. I just purchased and installed it today, then following instructions above, downloaded it a second time and reinstalled from the fresh download. The language file is there- /administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_admintools.ini, and the correct strings are in the file with identical names to what is in the email. Everything looks fine in the back end admin interface, but the email is not picking up the language strings from the file.

I realize this is just a cosmetic issue, but it bugs me! ;-)

Any ideas?

Oh, to add: Yes, I've read the troubleshooting manual and the documentation, and a search of the forum is how I found this thread :-)

Also, other emails are going out complete with text from the language file- I set it to notify me of an admin login, and it worked correctly when I next logged in. it's just the auto IP blocking notice email that isn't working correctly.

Thank you! The new version fixed the subject and email body, but the From: is still blank (which I now realize I hadn't mentioned before, sorry). The admin login notice email comes with "From: site name". Don't know if the lack thereof in the auto ip block message is a bug or a feature ;-)

I am glad the other issue is resolved.

Now, regarding the From name, that's a very strange one :s In all cases where an email is sent, we fetch the From email address and name from Joomla!'s Global Configuration (the values stored in configuration.php). It's the same code running every time, so I don't get why it doesn't work only in this particular case :s

Weird. I stated the situation poorly- it's not a blank From: header; there actually is no From: header in the email at all, if that makes any difference.

Interesting that the auto ip block email picks up the language of the page being requested as well. I've gotten a couple now that were in French (the site is in EN, DE, FR and ES) and the server log show a FR page being requested. The language of the email doesn't seem to affect the appearance or lack of a From: header.

I too was experiencing this problem and applied the developer's release. It appears to have corrected the issue completely. Including a proper "From" header

Content:

"Hello,

We would like to notify you that the IP address xx.xxx.xx.x is now blocked from accessing your site, XXXXXXXX, until 2011-09-04 09:53:44 GMT.

If this is your own IP address, please use an FTP client to rename plugins/admintools/pro.php or plugins/admintools/admintools/pro.php -depending on your Joomla! version- to pro.php.bak, login to your site's back-end and use the Auto IP Blocking Administrator button in Admin Tools' Web Application Firewall panel page to remove the auto ban on your IP. Also remember to clear any Exceptions Log entries with your IP so that you don't get blocked again. Then, rename pro.php.bak back to pro.php and try accessing your site.
