Hi,

I've just upgraded one of my Joomla! 1.6.1 sites to the freshly released (today) J1.6.2.

All works fine, however there's a strange thing where the "save" button won't work in the Configure WAF section of Admin Tools Pro.

Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't achieve anything and I can recreate scenarios for it working perfectly OK with 1.6.1, apply the 1.6.2 update and it breaks!

Any thoughts?
Regards
Alan.

Bit more info - it seems to be any save button (that has a floppy disk icon) and some back buttons (although not in every area of admin tools) that are displayed in the top toolbar area. Any other button (as in the actual extension dialogue area) seems to be affected.

No other extensions seem to be affected - Akeeba backup is fine, for example.

It's the same cross-browser too.

Alan,

it sounds like they changed Joomla! 1.6 yet again. That button does nothing special. It displays the standard Joomla! save button using the standard Joomla! API that worked fine throughout Joomla! 1.5 and 1.6.b1 through 1.6.1.

I have decided to not bother with Joomla! 1.6 anymore. If they ever release a stable version of it I will take a look at it again. Until then, there's no point wasting my time on alpha-quality software like Joomla! 1.6 (I know it's called "stable", only it's anything but).

Morning Nicholas,

Yes they did break it! I've seen the bug tracker report and Brian's message which leads me to only one conclusion: I'm rolling back to 1.5! I just can't do without Admin Tools working fully and it isn't worth the risk to ignore it.

Fortunately (actually by design) I can roll back in around 4 mins due to Akeeba backup!

Thanks for your time looking at this.

Regards
Alan.

Yeap. Joomla! 1.5 is the only stable release of Joomla! at the time of this writing. Joomla! 1.6 is just a very bad, tasteless joke.

Finally someone who's opinion I respect has what it takes to admit 1.6 is a joke! I have been saying this for months now and no-one wants to believe me and no one seems to have any answers why so many things are not working!

Thank you for that Nic and thank you for not only developing what IS the best security extension for Joomla! Not only that but your extremly active support for your software is second to none!

Thank you for your kind words :)

Regarding Joomla! 1.6, join the club! It has thousands of members added to it every single day :) I've been saying that Joomla! is broken in many ways for a year and people told me that I was attacking Joomla! for no good reason. What do I begin with? The extensions installer which has the stability of the Fukushima plant? The broken and ever changing API? The lack of simple features present in 1.5, like bulk copying/moving articles? The inability to have more than three items edited at the same time without one overwriting (yikes!!!) the other? The framework API which has renamed methods and properties for no reason and without a common naming convention? And that's only the top nuisances I have run into...
