Hello,

I had the Administrator secret URL parameter set and this was working fine. Now I updated Joomla to the new 1.5.23 release and after that this option was no longer active. However on checking the setting my secret word was still there. I had to save the configuration to make it work again.

Is this considered a bug?

Can you define "no longer active" please? I have updated this site to Joomla! 1.5.23 and Admin Tools Professional 2.0.3, but the administrator secret query parameter is active and very well working without saving the WAF configuration (I haven't touched it for a coupe of months, to be perfectly honest).

Edit: Small note is in order. If you are already logged in to your site's back-end, i.e. you session has not expired, you can access your back-end as http://www.example.com/administrator without providing a secret query parameter. The secret query parameter is required only if you are logged out of your administrator area or your administrator session has expired. Makes sense, doesn't it?

Hey Nicholas,

Your story on the session makes perfect sense but that is not in place here.

What I mean by 'no longer active' is that when I go to my site with the url http://.../administrator I get the login screen instead of being redirected to the frontpage.

Now I have already upgraded, so I can't repeat the process. This was with the 2.0.2 release and updated from Joomla 1.5.22 to 1.5.23. The update was done from within ATPro.

I can check later if I can reproduce it on a test site on my server if needed.

That's how I did it as well. I did a 1.5.22 to 1.5.23 upgrade w/ Admin Tools 2.0.2 and I had no problem. In fact, when I accidentally forgot the query string when trying to access my site from my cellphone two days ago, it threw me back to the front-end, so I'm pretty sure that feature was working :) When I upgraded to Admin Tools 2.0.3, no problem noted. That's strange... It's like the "System - Admin Tools" plugin was unpublished for some reason. When you upgraded, the installation code forces it to be enabled, so maybe that's why after upgrade everything was working again. Does that make sense?

It all makes sense to me, I just can't explain it further :) I will see if I can reproduce it otherwise it is a user error :D

OK! Let me know if you can reproduce it on another site.
