Trying to do a live update 2.0 to 2.0.2.
Got the following error msg: "Downloading the update package failed. Make sure that your temp-directory is writable or that you have enabled Joomla!'s FTP options in your site's Global Configuration."
However, tmp directory is indeed writeable, and I do use Joomla's FTP option, which works fine for other jobs.
Tried to download the latest package here from the website and install it with Joomla's extension installer. Installed fine, but it still says a new version is available.
Confused - any help?

The Live Update was indeed broken in 2.0, your method is correct.

Regarding the message you're getting, please click on the "Update found" button, then click on "Refresh update information". Alternatively, wait for 8 hours for the update information to be invalidated. That should do the trick.

Nicholas I was able to do one site fine but the next one is giving me the same issue as above and same with trying to do the Joomla! Core UPDATE FOUND
Is the answer the same for both it seemed on the first site I tried the joomla update only worked afterr I was able to update Admin tools.

Can you clarify
"then click on "Refresh update information". Alternatively, wait for 8 hours for the update information to be invalidated."

I translate this as click the refresh button come back 8 hours later and click the update button?

I found the problem which led me back to Akeeba pro
For some reason Akeeba pro stopped working on April 1
I have it set up with lazy plugin to do it once a day and akeeba sends it to my dropbox.

No backups April 1 on.

Nothing in my Dropbox.

Then I check the folder "AKbackup" where I set up Akeeba to store my backups and it is huge full of all the backups since April 1.
The result of this huge folder was my disk usuage was exceeded on my server and nothing would work of course.
Thats why the updates were not working!

I had post backup set to delete any archived files or anything in that folder "AKbackup"

My question is why and how did Akeeba put those files in there and how do I prevent this?

Assuming that AKbackup is your configured backup output directory, that's why the backup files ended up there. It is impossible to take the backup directly to the cloud. We first create it in the backup output directory, then upload it to the remote server. It looks like the upload part stopped working from some point onwards, leading to the backups always staying on your server.

I suggest upgrading to Akeeba Backup 3.2.5 (released today) and try taking a new backup.

Hi Nick,

I am still getting this error "Downloading the update package failed. Make sure that your temp-directory is writable or that you have enabled Joomla!'s FTP options in your site's Global Configuration.", when trying to update from admin tools 3.0.5 and akeeba backup 3.2.7, is that expected for those versions? or do I have my FTP Root wrong?

Hosting is with Siteground and my FTP details are right. Not sure about my "FTP Root" though, it is set to "/public_html"

I have multiple sites, I removed admin tools completely and installed the latest instead and it worked fine, but if I have the chance to avoid that on all sites that would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

First, make sure that you have your Download ID configured in both of the components. Go to https://www.akeebabackup.com/my-subscriptions.html and find your download ID below the list of subscriptions. It's a 32-digit alphanumeric string. Copy it. Now go to Akeeba Backup, Component Parameters and Admin Tools, Parameters (the tolbar button on the top right) and paste the Download ID to the same-named field in both of them. Then click on the "Update found" button, click on "Refresh update information" and you should be able to update.

If this doesn't work, manual update works just fine. Just download the installation ZIP archives of both components from https://www.AkeebaBackup.com/latest and install them through Extensions, Install/Uninstall without uninstalling your existing versions. When installing a newer release of our components on top of an older release, an update is automatically performed by Joomla!.
