so i set the web firewall administrator code and according to instructions i should be able to log in using administrator?mycode but instead i get this message and can no longer log in to my site:

Illegal variable _files or _env or _get or _post or _cookie or _server or _session or globals passed to script.

how do i turn this off to regain access?

user20056
ok. i found an old post on this and fixed it.

it seems the secret code has to start with a letter.

when i used only numbers it would not work. when i tried something like x242356 it worked

Yes, this is a security feature introduced IIRC in Joomla! 1.5.6 in order to counter some common hacking methods.

For the record, the easiest way to disable Admin Tools' protection is to rename the main.php file of the plugin, as explained in the documentation.

Thanks Nicholas,

would it be too much work to add a "must begin with a letter" statement to the instructions that pop up when you hover over the item title within admin?

No work at all. I changed that for the 1.0.2 release :)
