I got a * Could not download the Joomla! installation package. You have to update Joomla! manually. when i tried to update joomla. Curl an allow_url_fopen are on. The Temp direcotory is writable and it produced the update file with 0 kb.
What is going wrong?

yog512
Admin Tools 1.0.1 fixed this

Thanx

yog512
Testing with only url_fopen and it worked too.
It is really working now ;-)

That's why I rushed the 1.0.1 release today :) I am glad it's working now!

Received error "Could not download the Joomla! installation package. You have to update Joomla! manually." when attempting to run Admin Tools, Admin Tools Core 1.1.2

I have Joomla 1.5.18 on a BSD server. I've had problems with Joomla component installs, etc on this server before.
PHP Version: 5.2.11

Any Suggestions?

I even tried using Update Manager and got the following error:
Download Failed: Remote Server connection failed: fopen(http://jsitepoint.com/update/packages/joomla/update.xml) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found; Using Proxy: No(42)

njonow
I have the same problem. I have the latest version of Admin tools, and trying to update from Joomla 1.5.14 to 1.5.22

Any ideas on what to troubleshoot?

@njonow Thank you very much for giving me access to the site! This allowed me to figure out what's going on. The server was lying that it didn't properly support cURL, which led Admin Tools into believing that there was no way to download the Joomla! update package. I have fixed this problem.

You can find an updated developer's release on this site: Core edition and Professional edition respectively.

nicholas,
my experience with this varies. running apache 2 and php 5.3.0 with curl an f open enabled after running several experiments over a period of time, under chrome and ie, cannot update joomla at all, with above error. with opera and firefox 2-3 clicks of update joomla are required and it will go to the write files screen, no problem. with fopen disabled and only curl, no updates are possible at all. Just some info for you which might help in future. Also be sure to when editing php.ini files whether shared or dedicated, apache MUST be restrated each time for settings to take proper effect.

It turns out that some hosts were lying about the cURL support status. More specifically they'd report that curl_perform was unavailable even though it wasn't. I fixed that in the latest developer's release. You're welcome to try it out and report your results :)

Downloaded Developer of AdminTools version SVN161, com_admintools-svn161-core.zip

Admin Tools and Joomla Update worked and updated
my site from 1.5.18 to 1.5.22

As we say in the USA, you da man, you da man!!

Went right to subscribe and updated to Pro with PayPal.
Do I need to upload Pro now or just stay with the developers
version of my download?

thanks

Excellent! I am glad it worked fine :)

You can upgrade to Pro, but I suggest using the developer's release of the Pro edition. First, login to this site if you're not already logged in. Then, go to the Admin Tools Professional Developer's Releases section and download the latest package. Install that one on your site. That's all; you're ready to go! :)
