When I change the permission of a folder (I tried tmp) then it functions but when I try to change the permission of any item (like .htaccess) there is no change. What can I do?

Did you try enabling Joomla!'s FTP mode in the Global Configuration page of your site?

Yes, I have enabled FTP-mode and nothing changed the permissions, I have ask the host, but they haven't found any reason.

Hi xmac,
Is it just .htaccess? Or is it other files too? Also what version of Admin Tools are you using?

user6962
All files I can't change and my version of Admin Tools is the last 1.0 (stable). I'm wondering about when I change the permissions through FileZilla it was right and when I try it again with Admin Tools than the old permissions come back.

Wait. Admin Tools will not change the file permissions unless you click on the Fix Permissions button. That button changes the file permissions to whatever you have selected in the Custom Permissions page. Please send me a PM with Super Admin access to your site. I think that you are just confused with the permissions setup and that Admin Tools does work properly on your site.

Thank you for the PM. That was a bug in Admin Tools. Permissions less than 0600 were not being applied, instead they were applied as 0755.

Thank you for your help, I think Admin Tools is one of the greatest and especialy a very usefull component just as your backup-component (sorry for my English, it's not good). So I will wait for the fix of this bug.
When I am writing, I would have a request, it would be very usefull, when I can change the permissions for a group of files such as files with the end ".css".
Perhaps it's not the right place, but I have some problems with your login:
So when I login, I get the message of an MySQL-problem with a white site, than I go back and login again, I get the message of an invalid toggen, than I go back and I'm logged in.

Thank you very much for such great components

I have published developer's release 91 (check our Downlaods section, towards the bottom) which addresses this issue. Please feel free to download, install, test and report back your results.

Regarding our site's login, the server is overwhelmed (we grew too big too fast!). We are planning on migrating it to a bigger server in a few weeks to get rid of those problems.

Hello, this release works like a dream, all my permissions are fixed, thank you very very much.

Your server is overwhelmed, that's the best sign for your good work, my best congratulations.

You're welcome! I'd prefer it if we could transfer the site right away to a bigger server, but it does take some time due to the dedicated IP (required for the SSL certificate) :)
