The Joomla core update part stayes empty, and a text field tels me i have to check for updates manualy. What use is the Joomla core update this way?

By the way, it would be nice to have a field to enter a localized url to check for joomla updates. But first things first, what can be done to get this option to work?

This implies that your server does not allow direct connections to joomlacode.org. Please tell your host to open their firewall for regular HTTP (port 80) connections to joomlacode.org and this feature will work properly. While you're at it, also tell them to open ports 80 and 443 to akeebabackup.com so that Admin Tools updates will also work.

Zocor actually gets further along than I do. When I started the update to go from 1.5.18 to 1.5.20 the update screen came up but did not do anything more. No messages and no action. Tried it using both update types the open and the ftp. This is on my VPS that I have total control over and the firewall is open to handle the needed ports. Thoughts on this would be appreciated.

This is a known Javascript timing bug, making . I will be releasing version 1.0.b1 today which fixes this and some other bugs in the alpha version.

Hi Nicolas

Have had contact whit my hosting provider and he confirmed that they bocking all http traffic from the server. Monday i here what action the chief sytem operator can do to let me use http ports 80 and 443. This firewall rules where made to secure the shared server. All php calls to external websites are blocked because of this.

An alternative they give me was to use iframe calls from the extension but i do not want it i sayd. So i wait and see what option they have monday, else i am thinking on moving my website to a provider that does not block external http calls.

I'll let you know, regards Zocor.

The reason we can't use IFRAMEs is that we don't want to present the user with a piece of external information, we need to process update data and give the option to run an update. This is a server-side process, whereas IFRAMEs work on the client (browser) side. Your host should be able to open web traffic to certain domains per account, if they have properly configured their servers. If not, it's best to move to another host.

Well we just have to wait and see what solusion they have tomorrow, if i don't like the answer i certainly going to look for a new provider.

My host wrote the following answer on my question to open the needed ports:

Hi Robert,

Just Let me know which IP addresses it needs, then we'll see if we can add them in the white list for you.

Can you please e-mail me the IP adresses that i need to get ATPRO working correctly, and do you also know the Dutch localized IP by any chance?

JoomlaCode.org's IP is 206.123.111.164 and AkeebaBackup.com's IP is 72.249.175.22. Strange, I though the host would know how to run a ping or dig command to resolve a domain to an IP.

You don't a particular IP for the localized Joomla! release. Core updates are language-neutral, as they update the Joomla! core files, not the translation files. In case translation strings are added in a future release, you can always reinstall just the localization (language) pack for Dutch from the accredited translations section in extensions.joomla.org.

ATPRO is fully operative now, my host made the two IP's accessible by adding them in the firewall's white list.
