Good Afternoon,

When we restore a backup and go through the kickstart process, the preinstallation check screen does not load. The stops us from being able to enter the database server name, username, or database name. We do need this to be resolved as quickly as possible as we deploy new websites from a template.

Please advise on a solution.

Best,

Madison Franczak

I am confused. How is this an Admin Tools ticket…?

Apologies, I submitted this ticket for the wrong tool.

All right, this makes more sense now :)

Also, important note: Kickstart is the backup archive extraction tool. It DOES NOT restore your site. The restoration script (Akeeba Backup Restoration Script - BRS) is included in the backup archive. Based on your description you don't have a problem with Kickstart, you have a problem with the restoration script. This is a huge difference. If I were to start looking why Kickstart has a problem while you are trying to solve a problem with BRS we'd never figure anything out.

I need to know which version of Akeeba Backup you are using to take this backup. Also tell me if you have access to the original site, or just this backup.

The reason I am asking is that I'd seen a similar problem with 10.0.0 in some cases, but it's been fixed since. If you can upgrade and take a new backup it should work fine. If you can't upgrade, I can send you the installer separately.

If you are on a newer version and have this issue, there are still a few things we can try, like trying to disable PHP verbose notices and warnings in case that's breaking the restoration.

Hi Nicholas,

Thank you for your help! We are on the 10.0.2 version. The site we are pulling the backup from is https://2025.govsites.net/. We install the backup on a new site and then after we run the installer, we just can't get to the screen where we update database server name, username, or database name. I just updated to 10.0.3 and I am going to try again now. I'll keep you posted!

Best,

Madison

I am still encountering the same issue with the current version of Akeeba Backup. Please see the attached screenshot of the screen we get stuck on.

Since you’ve provided the backup on ticket 41794 I am closing this one as a duplicate. Davide will take a look at the backup and let you know about further steps to follow.
