Dear Akeeba-Team,

I just read about "email on increased blocked requests" inside https://www.akeeba.com/documentation/admin-tools-joomla/web-application-firewall.html#waf-configure-logging-reporting but can't find that feature, which would come in handy for a special project.

Is it a depracated one (but still in docs), or a new one coming up (soon?), or one that can be enabled somewhere/somehow?

All best,

Konstantinos

It is a new feature. You have a really old version. You need to update.

Ah! Thanks! Funny thing is, upon login I just visited straight/quick the AdminTools control panel on that website and since there was no info that a new update is available I thought this was the moste recent version. It used to show that info in control panel as well, didn't it? Is this feature gone, or am I mistaken? Or is AdminTools misconfigurated?

Joomla extensions rarely, if ever, show their update information in their interface. Joomla has two features which can already do that.

Joomla has a centralized interface for displaying and managing update: System, Update, Extensions. You can use this interface to force Joomla to reload the extensions' update information which can come in handy if there was any kind of network problem in the past which caused Update Sites (update information sources) to become unpublished.

The extensions' update status is also shown in the Joomla! Control Panel page –the page you see when logging into Joomla– as a module called Notifications. We strongly advise having this enabled.

If you have unpublished it you can republish it from Content, Administrator Modules. If you have deleted this module on your site you can create a new Administrator module of the type Quick Icons. Use the following parameters for it:

  • Title: Notifications
  • Group: update_quickicon
  • Header Icon: fas fa-sync
  • All other options: Hide

The notifications in the module are generated by the plugins in the quickicons group. You can manage these plugins from System, Manage, Plugins. The plugin which shows notifications for extension updates is “Quick Icon - Joomla! Extensions Updates Notification”. If you have accidentally disabled it, please re-enable it.
