Arhat

Hi,

I want to configure my joomla site contact using SMTP but it seems Admin Tools locks the backend login page.

Some history of my site. I've always used php mailer until Godaddy blocked it so we can only use SMTP. Yesterday I tried to configure my site to mail using SMTP but when I do that and click save config, the page is stuck on loading. Finally I closed the browser. Then when I try to login the backend the same thing happens, the page gets stuck on loading, unable to send my login details to move to the 2FA page. After a lot of trouble shooting I got the site back by disabling Admin tools and resetting my mail server back to php mailer, but that means my contact page doesn't work.

How do I reconfigure the WAF to allow me to use gmails SMTP?

Thanks in advance.

Admin Tools won't do that; it can't. Backend protections are very light. The backend is a very different use case than the frontend. We don't have stray requests from everyone; they are blocked by the necessity of a login, by a trusted user. So, the protections have to do with ascertaining the user logging into the backend is legitimately trusted. In any case, Admin Tools cannot and will not stop you from editing your Global Configuration.

Disable Admin Tools, and try to set up SMTP. You will have the same problem. I believe that it's your server's configuration blocking you, possibly misidentifying your SMTP password as malicious data. Talk to your host about it, and ask them to check the Apache log in case you're being blocked by their mod_security2 rules.

Thank you, for your information. After playing with provider-disable and SMTP settings, it is as you said, the issue was a password that was wrong and got stuck in resolution that locked up the backend. Was able to configure the SMTP successfully with Admintools on and the backend is fine.

Thanks for your help.
