Hi,

I migrate from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4.

For that, I uninstalled AdminTools and then reinstalled the new version on Joomla 4.

However, all of the data that I had there, like the hardening options for domains that can register, blocked IPs and so on are missing.

Is there anything that could be done to retrieve them?

Thanks

Hello,

when you uninstall the component, all the data associated with it gets deleted. Now it's not possible to recover it, you should have exported it, uninstall Admin Tools, install it and then import the settings.

Got it. Is this by design for any good reason? Most of the components out there keep their data, especially because it's required to uninstall them for some upgrades.

It would be great if at least some of the data, non-critical for blocking upgrades, could be kept, especially on the PRO (paid) version.

I feel pretty disappointed on how this happened. I trusted the product for many years, I believe it's a pretty well done and rounded component, would never expect this kind of flaw.

Actually the default and correct behavior is to clean up everything when uninstall the component, since well... you're deleting the component.

Otherwise you'll end up with a ton of leftovers from extensions that you installed years ago and you're not using it anymore. None of the extensions require to be uninstalled in order to perform the upgrade for this exact reason: retain your data and configuration.

In case of uninstall, we do provide the export/import feature, so you can safely store your configuration and restore it at later time
