Hi,

I have since upgrading to Joomla 4.4. and now 5.0 had problems with Admin Tools on my site.

First I couldn't login to my site so I disabled the /services/provider.php by renaming it.

So after that I tried the last resort, to uninstall and then reinstall Admin Tools package.

Then when trying to run the Quick Setup Wizard , where I set up the "Administrator secret URL parameter" and then the user and password for that.

After that I only press Save (which is what I always do as I don't have knowledge to play around with more settings).

After pressing Save it just starts working but it always ends with a timeout.

I have set up in Global config to display Maximum Error reporting.

When I go to the live site I get the following message:

"Deprecated: Use of "self" in callables is deprecated in/home/fanforsen/domains/fanforsen.se/public_html/administrator/components/com_nicepage/library/src/Processor/PositionsProcessor.phpon line33"

Hello,

please let me connect to your site to run a couple of tests.

I have made this ticket private so that only you and me can see the information posted here.

Please provide me with the following information:

  1. The URL to your site's administrator login page
  2. Super User username and password
  3. FTP connection information

Please allow up to one business day (GMT+2 timezone) for me to log in to your site and debug this issue. When I'm done I will post back. Once the issue is fixed, you can revoke my access e.g. by changing the Super Administrator and FTP passwords.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
In order for me to help you fast and accurately, please provide the information by copying the form below, paste it into your reply and fill in the information:

----- Access Information Form -- START -----
Super Administrator access

  • URL to site's administrator page (e.g. http://www.example.com/administrator?foobar):
  • Super User username:
  • Super User password:

FTP connection information

  • FTP methods supported (e.g. FTP, FTPS, SFTP):
  • FTP Hostname:
  • FTP Username:
  • FTP Password:
  • FTP Port (if other than 21 for FTP and 22 for SFTP, ask your host):

----- Access Information Form -- END -----

Please make sure that you have tested the Super Administrator connection using a different browser or machine than the one you are using daily. Double check that logging in is possible and that the user has Super User privileges, i.e. it's not a regular Administrator. Make sure that your site does not block whole countries or IP ranges which would make it impossible for me to log in / connect by FTP. Finally, please do make sure that the FTP connection works and that logging in to it I have access to your site's files.

Kindly note that your site connection information and your site content is handled in strict confidence. Not only we are a reputable development company, we are also bound by law (EU GDPR) to do so. After you file your reply, the connection information to your site will be stored in an encrypted, hidden storage area on our site and will be automatically deleted when this ticket is closed. Finally keep in mind that the people providing support to you are the same developers who wrote the software you're using on your site.

Thank you very much for access details.

I just connected to your site and ran some tests. Admin Tools will send you a troubleshooting email every time you do a "dangerous" operation, so you'll know how to regain access to your website. If, however, the mail system is not working on your website, the page will hang forever.

I suspect this is your case: if you get inside the Joomla Global Configuration and try to send a test email, you'll see that the request never completes. Please double check your mail settings, that's the root of your issues.

Ciao Davide,

Thank you very much for this.

The email settings had somehow became corrupt in the Global settings so after I adjusted them it worked fine to do trhe Qick Set Up Wizard.

Two more things though,

1. If I need to add a new user or edit an existing user, is this under WAF => Configure WAF => Hardening Options => Disable editing user properties?

Can I temporarily disable that and then after editing the desired user I set it back again to protect the site?

2. When I go into an article to edit I get an error message saying:

"Error

Failed to send request: "//export2.nicepage.io/export" HTTP status - 500. Error - Internal Server Error."

Is this something that has something to do with Admin Tools and WAF settings?

Hello,

Admin Tool will block you only if you're editing a "Special" user, from Manager and above.

If you're editing a normal user, there's no need to disable that option.

Regarding your error, please try to disable Admin Tools system plugin and replace your .htaccess file with Joomla default one, do you still have the problem?

Hello,

The problem was not Admin Tools it was something really strange on the host server that even made it impossible to save entries in the database via PHPMyAdmin. Fortunately the host has backup possibilities so I set it a week back when everything worked and voila after some reinstallation of Admin Tools and setup of proper email settings in the Global config everything is up and running as it shoukld again.

Thanks a lot for giving me the basics needed to understand, it feels a lot safer to work now and even do some settings in Admin Tools without the feeling of playing Russian roulette.
