I'm afraid this is the typical OVH response based on what we've heard from other OVH clients when they ask about CRON jobs.
Reading between the lines, it would appear that you could set up CRON jobs using crontab -e
over SSH, but that's a decidedly not user-friendly way of setting up CRON jobs. That's how I set CRON jobs on my servers. However, I'm not the typical hosting client. I am a developer, a systems administrator, and someone who's been using Linux for over 20 years. The whole point of buying a commercial hosting plan is that the host puts a nice interface on top of the underlying complexity so that clients who are not super technical can use it. If the OVH people think that CRON jobs are only for the super technical people, I think they've inhaled a lot of the toxic smoke that came out of their burning data centre a couple of years ago.
Not to put too fine a point, it would appear that OVH, unlike us as you said (and thank you for that!), just doesn't care about users who are not super technical. It looks like they have decided to focus on their (beleaguered and, um, occasionally self-immolating) cloud business which is only used by very technical people. It's a shame, really. They had started as one of the promising European hosts only to devolve into… that.
I will leave this ticket public, as you wish.
