Hi,

I am working on updating from Joomla 3.10 to Joomla 4.x and usually I use to add a new sub catalog to my regular site where I install the new site and make it ready for deployment in the main directoery once ready.

Now after creating the sub directory, in this case dokott, and after placing all the akkeba kickstart pro files (version 801) and the akeeba jpa file I can't acess the directory.

Is this something that Admin Tools could have stopped me from?

I have never had this issue before.

When trying to access the URL for installkation of the jpa backup file I get this error message:

Yes, you have used the .htaccess Maker. By default, it will block access to folders which do not normally belong to a Joomla installation.

The best approach is to create a subdomain whose site root is above the main site's web root. Never use a subdirectory of your main site for a test / development site. You will make mistakes.

No worries :) Nobody was born knowing this. We all bumped into this and found out.

If you absolutely need to use the subdirectory you can go to Components, Admin Tools, .htaccess Maker, find “ Allow direct access, including .php files, to these directories” and add your directory without a leading or trailing slash, i.e. dokott.

Ha ha :) I will use subdomains from now on, makes more sense.

Thanks!
