I have a folder on my site called admintoolsd as well as an admintools folder under plugins/system/

Is the admintoolsd folder required?

This site was a 3.X site that was updated to Joomla 4.

Hello,

I think you can safely delete that folder. Most likely someone renamed the folder to gain access to the site again, and then install Admin Tools one more time.
