I have hosting with siteground and I have selected php8.0.  But when I installed admin tools and allowed the .htaccess maker it changed my php selection at siteground to 7.4.  Is there a way to stop this?

I recommend that you read the article I wrote for the December 2022 version of the Joomla! Community Magazine where I explained exactly what you asked in the Finishing Touches section: https://magazine.joomla.org/all-issues/december-2022/upgrading-your-site-to-php-8#finishing-touches

This information is implied in the Admin Tools documentation but never explicitly mentioned. Writing that article for the Joomla! Community Magazine I realised that most people won't make the connection between custom .htaccess directives and the PHP version; someone would have to know that this is how most hosts change the PHP version. What I wrote in the article will be copied into our documentation as well.
