Hello,

I had uninstalled admintools from my joomla 3.10.11 website before updating it to 4.2.4

Now I wanted to re-install it (joomla 4 version) but it won't install. I get this message (dutch, I wil also translate)

JInstaller: :Install: Fout SQL Table 'xxxxxxx_joo76.josba_admintools_filescache' doesn't exist Extensie installatie afgebroken. There has been an error with installing an extension: com_admintools-pro.zip Β  Before I have reinstalled akeeba backup and this was no problem? (joomla4 version) I don't know what to do to fix this? Β  Best regards, Ineke

You never really had to remove Admin Tools prior to the update. We have made it so that you can upgrade to Joomla 4 straight from Joomla 3 and then just install the new Admin Tools version.

Most likely you did not uninstall Admin Tools correctly. Maybe you uninstalled the component but not the package? You will need to uninstall the package extension as well before installing the new version.

Thank you, that was indeed the problem. After uninstall the installation went fine.

(I had uninstalled because Joomla update gave a warning.)

Yeah, Joomla's pre-update warnings are essentially broken and untrustworthy. I told the project 2 years ago, I explained why it's confusing and dangerous for the user, they just wouldn't listen (mostly one person, to be fair). I am waiting until Joomla 3.10 goes end of life and the person who is blocking the fixes is out of the project. Meanwhile we finally have a Joomla Experience Team which can professionally assess the usability of the Joomla Update and will very likely come to the same conclusions I did in 2020, further making the process of fixing Joomla Update easier.
