Today I spent the day getting ready to upgrade from Joomla 3 to 4. After a few hiccoughs I succeeded.

I'm not sure what I did but I'm now locked out of the site. The instructions to get myself out of this mess which I've used often in the past are no longer applicable. I've checked for plugins/system/admintools/admintools  and find there is no such directory. Also, I can't find main.php nor pro.php. The directories and files are different in Joomla 4.

So, what are the instructions for once again gaining access to my website.

Thanks for you help.

Hello,

Admin Tools for Joomla 4 has a different file structure, so the file you have to edit is a different one. More info here: https://www.akeeba.com/documentation/admin-tools-joomla/web-application-firewall.html#help-locked-out

Thanks for such a quick response. I was able once again access the website. Phew!

However, now I need to know how to find what caused the problem in the first place. I thought I'd fixed it and so renamed provider.php back to what it should be only to find I was locked out again. So, I've renamed the php again so I can access the site.

How do I find the problem? I don't remember what all I did which resulted in my being locked out... so, I have a quandary. How do I fix things again? Any help/suggestion would be gratefully received.

Thanks,

Fran

When you get locked out and you do not know why, you should manually disable Admin Tools, then get inside the Blocked Requests Log and double check what was the reason for the lock for your IP.

Once we know it, we can start working on it and check the actual cause.

Thanks for your reply, Davide.

I'm having a problem finding how to manually disable Admin Tools. Do I do it from the dashboard? or in cPanel? or where?

Also, where do I find the Blocked Requests Log?

Thanks,

Fran

Please take a look at this page about manually disabling Admin Tools: https://www.akeeba.com/documentation/admin-tools-joomla/web-application-firewall.html#help-locked-out

The log of blocked requests can be found inside the Web Application Firewall page.
