As per ticket #36400 I installed Admin Tools on a test Joomla 4 site and then created a default .htaccess file. This blocked access to the site with ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS, so I deleted the file and could then get access to the back end site. Although strangely the front end is still not visible using Chrome, Firefox or Vivaldi browsers.

I've gone through the .htaccess options, switching them off and then back on but it still blocks the site with the same error message.

I've attached the default htaccess file

If you just deleted the file you no longer have SEF URLs. Copy the htaccess.txt file shipped with Joomla to .htaccess

Regarding the redirections, this would happen if you have entered the wrong domain names at the bottom of the .htaccess Maker page. Remember that these must also correlate with your non-www to www redirection options. If you have set a redirection from non-www to www then the domains you enter at the bottom of the .htaccess Maker page must include the www. part in front of the domain name. Conversely, if you have set a redirection from www to non-www then your domain names must NOT include the www. part in from of the domain name. If you mix them up you are causing a perpetual redirection from the www to the non-www and back to the www version of your domain name, repeated ad infinitum.

Thank you for your prompt reply and I've copied the htaccess.txt to .htaccess.

On the htaccess maker settings I have 'Redirect www and non-www addresses' set to 'Do not redirect' and the domain names at the bottom of the page are without www, so there should be no redirection happening.

Any other suggestions?

The only other two features which can be in play are:

1. HSTS. It redirects from your HTTP site to HTTPS.

2. Custom code to add at the top or bottom of the file.
