Hi! When we install Admin Tools on a Joomla 4 website we see a list of IP's and domains in the WAF: Exceptions. In the manual we read that these are known IP's and domains of search engines. If we start adding some IP's to them (for example our own IP's), in time we might not be able to recognize the IP's and where they belong to or why they are added to the whitelist.

Maybe it would be useful to be able to add a comment with every IP in this list so we can later see why we added an IP? And also you could add a comment to the default IP's that are there to indicate to the user why these are there. When opened this page I thought: Where do these IP's come from and was inclined to delete them. Only after checking the manual I read about these default IP's.

Just a thought....

Kind regards,
Jip

I actually had the same idea as you when rewriting Admin Tools for Joomla 4.

Adding a comment field in the subform is easy. Doing that in a way that a. works with Joomla's subform element's default values in the form XML and b. would be backwards compatible with already entered data is impossible. I tried several different things and it would just not work. If I implemented a comments field you'd lose all your previously entered IP addresses and I would not be able to give you a default value. Weighing these problems against the marginal benefits of adding comments I decided to not add comments.
