Hello,

After working with Admin Tools for more than a year without any problems I now have got a problem with re-creating the htaccess file.

When I make some changes in the htaccess Maker and want to re-create the file, I get the error 403 Forbidden Access to this resource on the server is denied!.

But the htaccess file was edited  when I executed the quick protection of the website after installing Admin Tools. The problem occurs when I later on try to change the htaccess file.

The file permissions of the htaccess is 644.

I have used Admin Tools on other websites at the same host without this problem.

What can I do?

Best regards

If your site is blocked with the 403 error after creating the .htaccess then one of the settings there is conflicting with something on your site. It doesn't mean that the .htaccess wasn't created. The standard .htaccess Maker troubleshooting in our documentation applies in this case.

If you are talking about something different can you please attach a screenshot in JPG or PNG format in your next post?

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry if I wasn't able to describe my problem, The site is not blocked. But when I try to add changes in htaccess Maker to the section Custom.htaccess rules it only results in the error 403. No changes in this section are saved to the file.

It seems though that any other change is accepted, for example under the section Exceptions. These changes are saved in the new htaccess file.

The addition I want to make at the top of the htaccess file is instructions for a password protected folder. See attached JPG.

I hope this makes more sense than my very brief description yesterday.

Best regards

M

You need to contact your host about this. Something in the custom rules you are trying to access is triggering your host's server protection. That's the source of the 403 page; it's not the .htaccess file generated by Admin Tools itself.
