We are using widgetkit a lot, but since some latest updates, it seems to look into /administrator for files. Now frontend is asking for .htaccess login, which of course is not the way it should work. I understand why it happens, but the problem is Yootheme is not willing to change this way of coding. So I'm looking for a workaround.

I can't find any in your posts, but maybe there is a kind of exception possible?

Hope to hear from you .

Hello,

sadly there's no workaround to apply.

Htaccess protection (which is an Apache feature, Admin Tools only gives you an handy way to create the required files to deploy such protection) will block any unauthorized access to the administrator/ folder. WidgetKit is requiring files from the administrator/ folder. The protection is kicking in, annoying your customers.

There's nothing that we (you and us) can do, the only solution is to turn off the feature Protect your backend with a password.

Thanks. I'm afraid Yootheme is letting it users down.

I'll remove the administrator protection for now. Will it be helpfull, more secure to change the /administrator name?

I'm sorry but you can't change the name of the folder, it will break many extensions and most likely the core, too.

I was referring to this option in Admintools: https://screenshot.webjongens.nl/2NuE1rqp

Will it be as safe as .htaccess login?

Ah ok. Yes, that should do the trick. However please note that such feature doesn't work on some hosts, so you'll have to test it first.
