I have the latest JCE Editor Pro 2.8.18 and can open the 'Editor Global Configuration'. When trying to open an 'Editor Profile' of which I only have one, I get a debug error:

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 33554432) (tried to allocate 655360 bytes) in /home/sites/rele.me.uk/public_html/libraries/src/Language/Language.php on line 777

I can click the Go Back button on my browser which returns me to my 'JCE - Editor Profiles'. My browser is Firefox but it also happens when using Chrome.

I have had my hosting people checking things out for me and assuring me there is not a memory issue. After much searching and reading I finally followed your instruction on how to disable the 'System - Admin Tools plugin'.

This cures the problem. I have done this several times and it is repeatable.

I have looked at the .htaccess and WAF comparing it with another Joomla site which also has Admintools and does not have the problem and can not see anything wrong.

I have run out of ideas and do not have enough knowledge to go any further.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Robert.

From your description, it sounds like the problem stops when you rename main.php.  So the problem is in WAF.  Please trigger the error with JCE, then go to the Blocked Request Log and look at the latest entry.  That should give us the reason for the block.  Please copy and paste it here.

I have done as asked. I click the 'Default Profile' which after a few seconds goes to a blank page with the Fatal Error at the top:

I then click the back button on the browser which takes me back to my JCE showing the profile is now locked. I have then gone to 'WAF Blocked Request Log' (which I previously cleared) and it is empty.

I tried this a second time with one extra operation of clearing the lock status and again nothing in the log.

Just to assure you the WAF 'Blocked Request Log' has been showing entries so it is doing its job but does not trigger anything with the procedure you requested.

Your site needs more memory, you're running out.  Admin Tools isn't really causing the problem, when you disable Admin Tools, that frees up just enough memory for JCE to run.  You could probably disable any large plugin and get the same results.

Nicholas is running JCE Pro and Admin Tools without any issue.  I'm running the Core version without issue.

Modern Joomla! sties need about 128 Mb of memory.

The site has memory_limit local 1024M and master memory 128M. The other two sites I run, with all the same plugins, have both set to 128M and these sites do not have the problem.

On the site with the problem I have found that if I disable the Regular Labs 'sliders' the error goes away, so not an Admin Tools issue.

I will contact my hosting supplier about this.
