Have tried with file/folder permissions both ways, and yet I was able to upload. However, I was able to upload the Akeeba pro recently purchased; so I am puzzled as to why the admin tools didn't work the same way.

The Internal Server Error tells me that something broke at the PHP level. Can you install any other extension?

Prior to attempting to upload Akeeba Admin Tool, I had just finished uploading successfully Akeeba Backup professional and it worked.

However, to ensure it wasn't what you mentioned, I uploaded sh404 with no isses.

Just to make sure, which version of Akeeba Backup and Admin Tools are you trying to install?

Note that the file name of the ZIP archive includes the version number. For example, pkg_akeeba-1.2.3-pro.zip means "Package for Akeeba Backup, version 1.2.3, Professional edition". Likewise, pkg_admintools-4.5.6-pro.zip means "Package for Admin Tools, version 4.5.6, Professional edition".

pkg_admintools-5.7.4-pro

Its the same version, discussed in a previous help ticket, that we worked on; which functions properly.

So, it does upload as I tested it on another site.

It obvisous that it is something on this site and I have no clue.

Its on the same server; so its not a server issue..

Tried the file/folder permissions thing, that didn't work...

I am at a lost :(

I have a few suspicions. Let's do something which should address them all at once.

First, download and install the latest version of FOF (backend framework) and FEF (frontend framework).

Then install Akeeba Backup twice in a row, without uninstalling it before or in between.

Next, disable the following plugins if they are installed:

  • System - Admin Tools Joomla! Update Email
  • System - Admin Tools Update Email

Now try to install Admin Tools.

If you still have a problem, unzip the files in the Admin Tools installation package and install them one by one, in this order, using the Upload Package method in Joomla:

  • com_admintools-pro.zip
  • file_admintools-pro.zip
  • plg_system_admintools.zip
  • plg_installer_admintools.zip
  • plg_actionlog_admintools.zip

You might have noticed I didn't mention two files. That's on purpose. The other two ZIP files are FOF and FEF but we already installed their latest versions in the very first step of the instructions in this reply.

Let me know how that works.

Thanks for those detailed instructions...

The first option didn't pan out well, as it brought up an interesting error.

(quick screenshare; so you can see what it looked like)

The second worked.

I still wasn't able to locate both the plugins you mentioned above, but at least it works now :)

Thanks for taking the time and helping with it.

The component not installed error you got is something I thought would happen. It means that Joomla didn't finish installing the component. It copied some  but not all files and didn't update its #__extensions table. That's why I offered the manual method. Installing the component manually, instead of through the package, addresses Joomla's previously halfway installation of it.

I assume that now everything is in working order?
