I've recently been assigned to be the Web Site Administrator of our organization. I found that our currently installed version of Admin Tool Pro is 4.3.1. Our subscription has been out of date for some time. I rectified this today by subscribing to Akeeba for both Admin Tools and Backup.

When I'm in Joomla and go to Components and then Admin Tools, nothing shows up. This is clearly because we have an outdated version of Admin Tools.

My question is: If I install the latest version (5.6.0), will our current settings be carried over to the new Admin Tools?

Thank you,

David Troyan

That's a really old version you've got there :) You do not see an update because the extension type the Joomla! extensions updater sees changed from component to package. We kept a transitional update stream for old installations for just over two years, allowing you to automatically update to an early 5.x release so that we could change the update information with Joomla which would allow it to find the update to the latest 5.x release. This transitional update stream was removed in January 2020.

Regarding your question, the settings should be transferred correctly by manually upgrading to the latest Admin Tools 5.x release. To do that just install Admin Tools Professional 5.3.1 twice in a row, without uninstalling it before or in between. This ought to work.

Hi Nicholas,

I have been trying to find version 5.3.1, but I get nowhere (403 Access Forbidden). On the Akeeba Compatibility page, there are links to 5.2.1, 5.5.5, and 5.60. Should I install one of these versions (or each version in turn).

Something similar is happen with Backup Pro. Joomla lists our updates from 5.6.3 to 6.4.2.1 But the compatibility page lists 6.4.0, 7.0.0., 7.0.1, 7.0.2, and 7.1.0 which should I use for my upgrade?

Thank you,

Apologies, version 5.3.1 is an old version. I don't know why I typed that. I think somewhere between reading you're using 4.3.1 and thinking you should upgrade to 5.6.0 I ended up typing the wrong version number.

The current version at the time of this writing is 5.6.0 and that's the version I meant to ask you to use.
