This may be a silly question but what is the maximum character length for both username and password when adding the administrator folder credentials?

The username has a maximum length of 255 characters and cannot contain colons per Apache's documentation.
Regarding the password, there is no limit. We use Apache's APR1 hashing method which does not have a size limit. However, per the same documentation page, Apache on Windows cannot handle passwords over 255 characters. So please keep your passwords below that limit.
