#30221 Problems with Akeeba Admin Tools

Today I tried logged into the backend of Joomla after a long period of time not doing so. I started having problems with the server not responding; although the Joomla login page showed up, when I entered my user name and password it would time out, so I could not get in the backend.

After a long time on the phone to my host (Siteground), it occurred to me that it might be Admin Tools, as my subscription had expired. When I disabled Admin Tools (renaming main.php to main-disable.php), the issue was resolved - I could get in.

I therefore thought Akeeba Admin wasn't working because my subscription had expired, so I paid to renew my subscription. I installed the new version and.... now I still have the same problem as before. I can't log in because the server won't respond. When I disable Akeeba Admin I can log in.

So I currently have it disabled.

Could you please let me know what I can do to get Akeeba Admin working again?

The status of your subscription is not relevant. Admin Tools will continue working even after your subscription expired. The only thing you need the subscription for is downloading updates and receiving support.

The first I would check is whether you can send email from your site. Go to your site's Global Configuration and try sending a test email. If that hangs, the problem lies in the email configuration of your site. Admin Tools tries to send you an email as soon as you log in which would explain what you experienced.
