Hello,

I'm sorry but I can't replicate it.
I suspect there's something related to the session. Can you please install the latest version of Joomla?
There was a bug related to the session that could being causing this.

It's still happening with Joomla 3.8.6 on multiple sites. Not a big deal, just a minor inconvenience.

We are not able to reproduce this issue. Moreover, it does not make any sense if you actually know how Joomla works. The sorting and filtering options are saved as session variables by Joomla itself (our code does not manage this data, Joomla does). Once you log out of Joomla, or your session expires, Joomla destroys the session and the session data.

HOWEVER Joomla has many different storage backends for session data. If you are using, for example, memcached or Redis it's possible that the session data persists even after your session expires since Joomla does not do garbage collection with these backends. This would explain why coming back to the site and logging back in makes the session data persist.

Since this is something about how Joomla itself works we can't help you. You can try switching to database storage for session data which seems to be the only session storage backend which is not broken in a subtle or big way at the time of this writing.

I'll just live with it; it's not a big deal. But, for the record, I'm using database storage for session data, no memcached or Redis. This is exactly the same issue as ticket 21862. It got fixed at some point, and I thought it was by you, but maybe it was by Joomla and they have broken it again. I don't see it mentioned in any of the old version release notes for Admin Tools, so maybe that's the case. I just think it's odd that it broke again exactly when you released a major upgrade.

I'm not asking you to pursue it further, but if you want to look into it, I can give you access to a site where it happens.
