I am seeing a conflict with Enable IP workarounds. I have a dedicated server and I know I am not behind a reverse proxy or us a CDN. I have disabled this feature based on the documentation, but there seems to be a conflict and I cannot tell if this is a browser issue or what? The alerts and recommendations are all over the place with this. Given all the sites I am mentioning are on the same server, using the same configuration and from what I have read in the documentation about this parameter I assume this setting is not dependant on anything such as extensions installed or other functions of Joomla the same setting should hold true for all the websites.

From reading the documentation I have come to the conclusion that I need to set Enable IP workarounds to "No". If I check this on Chrome, regardless of site it alerts me that this needs to be set to yes. Firefox for the same site however does not alert me and even says the recommended setting being set to no is the correct choice. In Chrome it appears it cannot make up its mind because it is telling me to please wait because it is thinking. Problem with that is all it does is think and never comes to a conclusion.

So what should I do because the warning says setting this wrong can put the site in jeopardy and make it less secure? Do I go with what the alert is telling me in the Chrome browser that this needs to be enabled and just deal with the fact it cannot make up its mind and sets there and spins while it thinks, or do I disable it like the instructions indicate I should based on my server configuration and which Firefox agrees since it is not showing the alert and says I have chosen the right option of No?

The recommended setting is usually - but not always - right. From the description of your setup, I would expect the right answer to be "no".

The Security Exceptions Log really tells the tale. If all of your security exceptions are the same IP address, usually a private IP address, then you need to flip the setting. If you're getting a variety of IP addresses, then it's right.

Thanks, yes I suspected no was the right answer for this. Might have the developers look into why Chrome is being the bully again. Getting so sick of that browser, its to the point I respect it as much as IE6...;)

I hear you. Chrome decided that I WOULD NOT use Flash. While I sympathies, I had a page that required it. So I use a different browser now. Goggle is not the only fish in the sea - they just think they are.

I'm not sure we can lay this problem at Chrome's feet. Sometimes the program just can't tell what the right answer is. Mostly Nicholas won't put up with "works most of the time" but in this case it is pretty easy to tell the right answer.

Yes had the same issue with Chrome and Flash myself. I have basically moved away from using Chrome for all but a couple of things it is good at. I completely agree with Nicholas, no one should have to bend and contort themselves to make things work with Google just because they think they are right while the rest of the world is wrong. Sad, Google used to be a tech savvy bunch and now they are just a left wing liberal swamp more concerned about political opinion than doing the right thing...;)

Thanks for the support and the fast answers, have a great year my friend.
