I'm trying to install a component, Fox Contact (v3.8.3). I use this component without issue on several sites. It creates a directory in the /administrator/cache directory named "/foxcontact" and adds a .js file for language to the directory. The directory and its file quickly disappear. When I recreate the directory manually and put a miscellaneous file in it, the file and the directory remain. Very shortly after I put the .js file in, as the component does during installation, the /foxcontact directory and its contents disappear.

Is there a setting or something within Akeeba Admin tools that could be causing this?

No, Admin Tools might block access to the file but we would NEVER delete a file from your site. It isn't Admin Tools making the file disappear. Ask your host.
