Hi,

I've setup a new site and had the "administration white list" feature enabled and inserted my own IP - so far, everything works fine. Since my client does not have a fix IP he was unable to login, of course. So I disabled the administration white list again, but now I cannot log in anymore, which seems to be strange to me. Did I miss some other settings?

Thanks for your hints and support

Thomas

Hello,

yes, that's a bit strange, since everyone should be able to login.
Can you please manually disable Admin Tools and take a look at Security Exceptions log? Is there any records for your IP?

Hi Davide

thanks for your feedback! Yes, there are many entries all showing my own IP and the IP of my client, but those IPs are not on the blacklist. So, what could be the reason for blocking any IP trying to access the Joomla backend? Never happened to me before ;-)

What's the reason for the block?
I suspect you setup a secret param for your backend: as long as you had your IP in the whitelist, you were always granted to access. Now that you disabled the Whitelist feature, if you don't provide the secret param you get redirected.

The reason is "Admin Query String". What do you mean with "secret param" for the backend? I didn't hide the login page or set up any other special parameters - in any case not as far as I know, perhaps by mistake...?

Admin Query String is the secret param to access your backend. If you used the Wizard, a random string was generated for you.
Please get inside the Configure WAF page, in the first tab there is the Administrator secret URL parameter. Empty it and you'll be able to access your backend again.
For further info you can take a look at the documentation.
