I am using Droptables by JoomUnited to add Excel sheet data to my website. This works fine in the Backend, but I also want the functionality to be available to my Article Editors and Publishers via Frontend. To do so, I need to give them the permission "Access Administration Interface" in Droptables settings. When I do, the Tables-DropTables button (letting them open the DropTables edior) appears in the Article Editor, which is the hoped-for behavior. However, when clicked, from the frontend, we end up in the 403 error. Most likely because I protect the Backend by AdminTools? Any workarounds for this situation? Thank you.

Hello,

did you use the Htaccess Maker to create your .htaccess file? If so, you'll have to create some exceptions, you can read further here.
If you didn't use the Htaccess Maker, most likely the request is triggering a security exception. In this case can you please get inside the backend of your site, in the Security Exceptions Log and take a look at the reason of the block?

I first checked the Security Exceptions Log - and the DropTables indeed trigger an exception: template = in URL. It turns out that DropTables install and activate their own dedicated template to the site for the pages dealing with tables, so the count of my active template increased to 2 after the installation. Following you instructions under Allow Site templates I have changed it to Yes, and the plugin started to work properly even from the front-end.

Since it works, I suppose there is no need to create an exception using the Htaccess maker, right? I have used it on my site as well, but prior the installation of DropTables.

Yes, the issue was caused by the two new templates, there's no need to add exceptions to your .htaccess file.
