While attempting to log into my site's Admin page I was taken to a page with a Captcha test. This came up before the Admin protection password window. It told me there had been a number of hacking attempts and this had been activated.
I certainly was not responsible for manually activating anything of this sort on the site, so I wondered if it was done by Admin Tools or even a feature of Joomla that I was not aware of. Certainly Admin Tools has identified a number of security attacks, and my obvious concern is that I have been hacked, although it's a strange way of doing it!

This is not a feature of Admin Tools. I don't think Joomla! would know it was being attacked, so I don't think it's Joomla!. My money is on your host.

Thanks Dale. I am following this up with my Hosting Company and will report back when I know as it might be of interest to others.

Hi again,
Just to confirm your money is safe! 123-Reg, the hosting company for this site, confirm that the screen was inserted by them. A well intentioned move, but quite scary to see an unexpected screen like that when you are already aware that the site has been subject to attack and have to work out if it can be trusted or is a scam in its own right!
Thanks again,
